Sani Resort Greece | Our first hand guide to all five hotels
We thought we knew Sani before we went. Then we arrived and realised just how much there was to understand.
From the moment we pulled into Sani Resort, the scale of it surprised us. Everything was immaculate, beautifully landscaped and incredibly polished, but it quickly became clear that this was much more than one luxury hotel by the sea. Sani is a destination in its own right, made up of five very different hotels, more than 20 restaurants, multiple beaches, a marina, shops, sports facilities, watersports and experiences that spread right across the resort.
We travelled to Halkidiki to experience it properly, staying at Sani Asterias and Sani Club while exploring all five hotels first-hand.
And after a few days of whizzing around the resort on golf buggies, eating our way through some of its restaurants and getting to know each hotel properly, one thing became very clear: wherever you stay at Sani, you can have a beautiful holiday. But choosing the right hotel for you can make that holiday even better.
First impressions Bigger and more beautiful than we expected...
Our first stop was Sani Asterias, where Jen was staying in a beautiful suite overlooking the marina.
The arrival really set the tone. The grounds were immaculate, the landscaping was beautiful and everything felt incredibly considered. Sani Asterias itself has a distinctly boutique feel. It is luxurious, calm and relaxed, while still being family-friendly.
Then there was the view from the suite.
Looking out across the marina, it immediately gave us a sense of what makes Sani different. The marina is not simply an attractive backdrop. It is one of the main reasons the resort feels more like a destination than somewhere you check into and stay within the confines of a single hotel.
In the evening, you can head to the marina for dinner, browse shops including Missoni and Melissa Odabash, stop for something sweet at the patisserie or simply wander around before choosing where to eat.
It feels almost like going out for the evening in Marbella or in the South of France. You do not feel hemmed into a resort. You feel as though you are heading out to explore.
Five hotels, five very different Sani experiences
This was probably the biggest thing we took away from the trip.
Before visiting, we understood that Sani had five hotels. What we did not fully appreciate was just how different those hotels actually feel.
Each one has its own atmosphere, location and style of holiday, which means the right choice really depends on who you are travelling with and what matters most to you.
Sani Asterias calm, boutique luxury
Sani Asterias feels intimate, luxurious and very polished.
It is still family-friendly, but it has a calmer and more boutique feel than some of the other hotels. Its location close to the marina is a huge advantage for guests who like the idea of being able to walk out for dinner or spend their evenings around the heart of the resort.
The suites are exceptional, with beautiful interiors and incredible views. For travellers looking for a more peaceful and elevated Sani experience, Asterias is a strong choice.
Porto Sani luxury family holidays done properly
Porto Sani immediately feels designed with families in mind.
It is very suite-led, incredibly upmarket and particularly well suited to families who want proper luxury without compromising on convenience.
For us, it strikes a brilliant balance. We came away feeling that if we were travelling to Sani with children, Porto Sani would probably be the first choice because it manages to feel both genuinely luxurious and genuinely child-friendly.
It is also home to Lima, one of our favourite restaurants from the trip, serving a beautiful menu with a strong focus on ceviche and Latin American flavours.
Sani Club natural, relaxed and tucked away
Sani Club feels completely different again.
Set into the hills and surrounded by trees, it feels more natural and slightly more removed from the centre of the resort. It has a gorgeous beach area and a very relaxed family atmosphere.
We stayed here for part of the trip in a lovely small suite with a balcony, beautiful in-room amenities and excellent room service. We were also welcomed with bottles of Taittinger champagne, which was a particularly nice touch.
Because Sani Club is further from the marina, you are more likely to use the resort’s golf buggies to get around, but for many guests that is part of the appeal. Some people actively prefer to feel slightly more tucked away.
There are also excellent restaurants in this part of the resort, including Ouzerie and Cabana, which are well worth travelling across Sani for.
Sani Beach relaxed and easy for young families
Sani Beach feels like a classic luxury beach hotel with a particularly easy family atmosphere.
It is relaxed, child-friendly and gives guests convenient access to beaches, kids’ clubs and many of the activities that make Sani so popular with families.
For parents travelling with younger children who want everything to feel straightforward, this is an easy hotel to understand and enjoy.
Sani Dunes polished, premium and one of our favourites
We all agreed that Sani Dunes was one of our personal favourites.
That is partly because we naturally gravitate towards a more high-end luxury experience, but Dunes really does feel exceptionally polished. It is supremely manicured, beautifully designed and has a more premium feel.
It remains family-friendly, but we could also easily imagine staying here as a couple or with friends. For adults who want the Sani experience without necessarily wanting their holiday to feel centred around children, Dunes is a particularly interesting option.
