Beyond the hotels | what makes Sani Resort feel like a destination
Once you understand the differences between Sani’s five hotels, the next thing to know is that the resort experience goes far beyond where you stay.
What surprised us most during our visit was the scale of everything around the hotels. Sani has its own marina, more than 20 restaurants, multiple beaches, shops, sports facilities, watersports and weekly events. It never felt like we were staying within the confines of one resort. It felt as though we had somewhere new to go every evening.
That is a big part of what makes Sani so easy to enjoy, whether you are travelling as a family, a couple or with friends.
The marina changes the whole experience
The marina is the heart of Sani and one of the main reasons the resort feels so different from a traditional all-inclusive holiday.
In the evening, guests from across the five hotels head there for dinner, drinks, shopping and a wander around the waterfront. It has the feel of going out to a marina in Marbella or the South of France rather than simply moving from your hotel room to another part of the same resort.
There are restaurants, bars, a patisserie and boutiques including Missoni and Melissa Odabash. The shops stay open late too, so you can browse before dinner or have a look around between drinks.
It gives the resort a real sense of life and movement without ever feeling too busy.
Getting around is part of the fun
Sani is large, but it is incredibly easy to explore.
One of our favourite parts of the trip was jumping onto the golf buggies and whizzing around the resort. You can hop on and off between the hotels, beaches, marina and restaurants, which makes it easy to experience far more than the area immediately around your hotel.
Staying slightly further away from the marina never felt like an inconvenience. In fact, for guests who prefer a quieter setting, it can be a real advantage. You can stay among the trees at Sani Club, for example, then head across to the marina or another hotel whenever you want
More than 20 restaurants
The dining was one of the biggest surprises of the trip.
There are more than 20 restaurants across Sani and the variety goes far beyond what we expected. Each restaurant has its own identity, menu and atmosphere, so eating somewhere different each evening genuinely feels like a new experience.
Lima at Porto Sani was one of our favourites. It feels very polished and upmarket, with a strong focus on Latin American flavours and some excellent ceviche.
Ouzerie at Sani Club offers a brilliant Greek dining experience in a beautiful setting, while Avli at the marina has a more high-end Mediterranean menu, including some incredible steak.
The quality was consistently high across the resort, but so was the service. Whether we were sitting down for dinner or stopping at the patisserie in the marina, everything felt warm, personal and polished.
Breakfasts were excellent too, with beautiful views across the coastline and beach, a huge choice of food and some particularly good vanilla iced lattes.
Beaches, boats and water sports
Sani has a selection of beaches across the resort, so the experience can feel different depending on where you stay and where you choose to spend the day.
There are plenty of water sports available, as well as boat trips that leave from the marina and cruise along the coastline. It is a brilliant way to see the scale of Sani from the water and add something different to the holiday.
Even if you prefer to spend most of your time by the beach or pool, it is reassuring to know that there is plenty available when you want to do more.
The White Party
One of the most memorable evenings of the trip was Sani’s weekly White Party.
Held on the beach, everyone arrives dressed in white and the whole space is illuminated in pink and purple lighting. There is music, a glamorous atmosphere and a real sense of guests from across the different hotels coming together.
It works well for both families and adults. Children are welcome, but it still feels stylish and sociable enough for couples and groups of friends to enjoy properly.
It is one of those experiences that reminds you that Sani is not just somewhere you stay. It is somewhere you can really become part of the atmosphere.
Plenty to do beyond the beach
There is also a strong sports and activity offering across the resort.
Guests can play tennis at the Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre, try different watersports, explore the coastline by boat or simply spend time moving between the beaches and hotel areas.
The important thing is that none of it feels forced. You can fill your days with activities or do very little at all.
That balance is one of Sani’s strengths. It can be an easy family holiday, a luxury beach break, an active trip or a mixture of all three.
Why Sani works for so many different travellers
Sani is clearly very family-friendly, but it never felt like it only worked for families with young children.
Couples could easily enjoy the restaurants, marina, beaches and more premium hotels. Groups of friends would have plenty to do in the evenings and families can make the most of the kids’ clubs, sports and easy access to the beach.
The resort is large enough to offer real variety, but polished enough that everything still feels connected and easy to navigate.
That is probably what stayed with us most.
You can stay in one of five very different hotels, eat somewhere new every night, spend your days across several beaches and still feel as though you are part of one beautifully managed destination.
