The Journey
UK to Athens (3 nights)
Arrive in Athens and settle into a city where ancient landmarks and modern life sit side by side. With three nights here you can take in the big-hitters and still leave time for neighbourhood wandering, café culture and late dinners.
Make time for the Acropolis and the Parthenon, then explore the Archaeological Promenade, a scenic pedestrian route that links many of the city’s major historic sites. In the evening, Athens comes alive. Head towards Syntagma and Monastiraki for cocktails and buzzing bars, or explore Metaxourgiou for galleries and hip restaurants. Seeing the Acropolis illuminated at night is a non-negotiable.
Athens to Paros (5 nights)
From the port of Piraeus you’ll take a ferry to Paros, one of the Cyclades’ best-kept favourites. It’s less showy than some of its neighbours, which is exactly the point. Think whitewashed lanes, blue domes, fishing harbours, relaxed beaches and a pace that instantly lowers your shoulders.
You’ll arrive into Parikia, perfect for an easy first wander through old market streets and a visit to the Byzantine Church of Ekatondapyliani. For evenings, Naoussa’s Venetian harbour delivers that postcard feeling, especially at sunset when the waterfront tavernas start to glow.
Paros to Santorini (4 nights)
Next you’ll sail south to Santorini, where the first caldera views tend to stop you mid-sentence. The island’s dramatic landscape was shaped by a volcanic eruption in the 16th century BC, and it gives Santorini its unmistakable cliffs, viewpoints and atmosphere.
With four nights here you can take it at an unhurried pace. Wander between Fira, Firostefani, Imerovigli and Oia for clifftop lanes, boutique shopping and the kind of views you’ll want to photograph repeatedly. Mix in time on the black-sand beaches and a visit to the hot springs, then make a habit of sunset evenings.
